Here, urban spaces are play\u00adful\u00adly con\u00adquered and appro\u00adpri\u00adat\u00aded, mark\u00ading a resis\u00adtance to seem\u00ading\u00adly uni\u00adver\u00adsal and accept\u00aded sets of rules that press every\u00adthing into shape through norms. It con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00adous\u00adly appro\u00adpri\u00adat\u00aded small parts of the sur\u00adround\u00ading com\u00admer\u00adcial\u00adized and pri\u00adva\u00adtized city, mak\u00ading them its own. For just a moment, how\u00adev\u00ader brief, a new (pub\u00adlic) space came into being\u2014where there pre\u00advi\u00adous\u00adly was none. By occu\u00adpy\u00ading squares, nich\u00ades, sites, and objects that nor\u00admal\u00adly serve oth\u00ader func\u00adtions, it recon\u00adquered the city gen\u00adtly and qui\u00adet\u00adly, but no less emphat\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly. Thus, the mobile swing can be read as a warn\u00ading. Because if pub\u00adlic space dis\u00adap\u00adpeared com\u00adplete\u00adly, will every\u00adone who wants to swing have to bring their own swing with them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
