Sie ist Forschungs­di­rek­torin am Het Nieuwe Insti­tu­ut\, dem Nieder­ländis­chen Insti­tut für Architek­tur\, Design und Dig­i­tale Kul­tur. Am HNI leit­et sie Ini­tia­tiv­en wie »Auto­mat­ed Land­scapes (Automa­tisierte Land­schaften)«\, das die entste­hen­den Architek­turen der automa­tisierten Arbeit in den Blick nimmt\, und »BURN OUT. Exhaus­tion on a plan­e­tary scale (BURN OUT. Erschöp­fung auf glob­alem Maßstab)«\, das die For­men von Koex­is­tenz\, Sen­si­bil­ität und Sorge für die artenüber­greifend­en kol­letiv­en Kör­p­er unter­sucht. Kür­zlich kuratierte sie die Ausstel­lun­gen »Spir­its in the Mate­r­i­al World (Geis­ter in der materiellen Welt)« von Heman Chong (2019)\, »Steve Ban­non: A Pro­pa­gan­da Ret­ro­spec­tive by Jonas Staal (Steve Ban­non: Eine Pro­pa­gan­da Ret­ro­spek­tive von Jonas Staal)« (2008)\, und ko-kuratierte die Ausstel­lun­gen »Mal­ware: Symp­tons of Viral Infec­tion (Schad­soft­ware: Symp­tome ein­er Viralen Infek­tion)« (2019) und »I See That I See What You Don’t See (Ich sehe\, dass ich sehe\, was du nicht siehst)« für La Tri­en­nale Di Milano (2019). Zuvor war Otero die Kura­torin der Arbeit WORK\, BODY\, LEISURE\, des nieder­ländis­chen Pavil­lons auf der 16. Inter­na­tionalen Architek­tur Bien­nale in Venedig im Jahr 2018. Mit After Belong­ing Agency war Otero die lei­t­ende Kura­torin der Oslo­er Architek­tur Tri­en­nale 2016 zusam­men mit der After Belong­ing Agency\, und die Direk­torin des Glob­al Net­work Pro­gram­ming im Stu­dio-X-Colum­bia Uni­ver­si­ty GSAPP (New York). Otero ist Mither­aus­ge­berin von Unmanned: Archi­tec­ture and Secu­ri­ty Series (2016)\, After Belong­ing: The Objects\, Spaces\, and Ter­ri­to­ries of the Ways We Stay In Tran­sit (2016)\, Archi­tec­ture of Appro­pri­a­tion (2019)\, More-than-Human (erscheint 2020)\, und Her­aus­ge­berin von Work\, Body\, Leisure (2018). Sie studierte an der TU Delft\, Colum­bia GSAPP und ETSA Madrid\, wo sie auch pro­movierte. Ihre Dis­ser­ta­tion Evanes­cent Insti­tu­tions (Vergängliche Insti­tu­tio­nen) unter­suchte die Entste­hung eines neuen Par­a­dig­mas für kul­turelle Insti­tu­tio­nen. Sie lehrt Architek­tur an der RCA in Lon­don. Ab Sep­tem­ber 2020 leit­et sie den Mas­ter Social Design an der Design Acad­e­my Eind­hoven.Nasan Tur unter­sucht soziale Bedin­gun­gen in ein­er diversen Prax­is\, die von Skulp­tur\, Zeich­nung\, Video und Fotografie bis hin zu Per­for­mance und Instal­la­tion­skun­st reicht\, wobei er die Beziehung zwis­chen Pro­duk­tion\, Wert\, Kom­mu­nika­tion­sweisen und deren Ver­hält­nis zur Macht erforscht. Mit seinen Instal­la­tio­nen lädt der Kün­stler die Betra­ch­t­en­den ein\, neu zu denken. Tur erzwingt Aufmerk­samkeit mit Auf­führun­gen\, die Purzel­bäume\, Lieder und Schreien bein­hal­ten kön­nen. She is Direc­tor of Research at Het Nieuwe­In­sti­tu­ut (HNI)\, the Dutch insti­tute for Archi­tec­ture\, Design and Dig­i­tal Cul­ture. At HNI she leads ini­tia­tives such as “Auto­mat­ed Land­scapes”\, focus­ing on the emerg­ing archi­tec­tures of auto­mat­ed labour\, and “BURN-OUT. Exhaus­tion on a plan­e­tary scale”\, insti­gat­ing forms of coex­is­tence\, sen­si­bil­i­ty and care for mul­ti­species\, col­lec­tive bod­ies. Nasan Tur exam­ines through a diverse prac­tice that ranges from sculp­ture\, draw­ing\, video\, and pho­tog­ra­phy to per­for­mance and instal­la­tion\, social con­di­tions\, prob­ing the rela­tion­ship between pro­duc­tion\, val­ue\, modes of com­mu­ni­ca­tion\, and their rela­tion to pow­er. With his instal­la­tions\, the artist invites the view­er to think anew. Tur com­pels atten­tion with per­for­mances that can include som­er­saults\, songs\, and scream­ing.
